Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need planning permission for a Garden Room?

In most cases, no. Most garden rooms fall under 'Permitted Development' as long as they meet specific criteria regarding height and placement. However, if you live in a Conservation Area or an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), the rules can vary. We provide expert guidance during our initial consultation to ensure your project is fully compliant.

Can I use my garden room all year round?

Absolutely. Unlike a traditional shed or summerhouse, our rooms are built to the same thermal standards as a modern home. We use high-grade insulation in the floor, walls, and roof, paired with professional-grade double glazing. This ensures your space stays cosy in the winter and comfortably cool during the summer months.

How long does the build process take?

Because we are a dedicated team of six, we work efficiently to minimise disruption to your home life. Most bespoke projects are completed within around 8weeks, depending on the complexity of the design and any integrated landscaping requirements.

Is electricity and Wi-Fi included?

Yes. Every Secrett Garden Room comes with a full internal electrical package, including sockets and lighting. We can also install hardwired internet cables (CAT6) or Wi-Fi extenders to ensure your home office or cinema room has a rock-solid connection.

How do you handle the foundations?

This is where our partnership with Secrett Garden Landscapes really shines. We assess your ground conditions and typically use a heavy-duty timber frame and ground screw system. This provides a level, ventilated base that protects the structure from damp without the need for massive, disruptive concrete excavations.
